The Event
Why Athletes Love Racing on the Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast has become one of Australia's favourite destinations for endurance sport. Athletes are drawn by the coastal scenery, supportive crowds and the opportunity to combine race weekend with a family holiday.
Many competitors return year after year because of the welcoming community and the unique experience of racing beside the coast. Whether you're racing for a podium finish or simply aiming to cross the line, the atmosphere makes race day memorable.
Conditions
Typical Sunshine Coast Conditions in November
November usually brings warm, late-spring conditions that can test even experienced athletes. Unlike cooler marathon events, clothing choices become increasingly important as temperatures rise.
- ☀️ Warm early morning temperatures
- 💧 High humidity
- ☀️ Strong sunshine
- 🌬 Light to moderate coastal breezes
- 🌡️ Increasing heat through the day
- ☀️ UV levels that require sun protection
Dressing for a Warm-Weather Triathlon
After several hours of swimming and cycling, the run is often where athletes notice the biggest impact of clothing choice. Heavy fabrics can become uncomfortable, while technical performance materials help manage moisture and reduce irritation.
Many athletes also prepare by applying anti-chafing products before the start, wearing moisture-wicking socks and choosing lightweight headwear for sun protection.
Race-day clothing should always be tested during training rather than worn for the first time on event day.
Race Day Clothing
Choose With the Run Leg in Mind
The final 42.2 kilometres are often where your tri suit really matters.
After a 3.8 km swim and 180 km on the bike, your tri suit needs to remain comfortable, secure and breathable all the way through the marathon.
Many athletes choose:
- ✓ Seamless construction to reduce friction and chafing
- ✓ Full-length lockable front zip for ventilation during hot conditions
- ✓ Silicone arm and leg grippers to keep the suit securely in place
- ✓ Long-distance tri chamois designed for extended time on the bike
- ✓ Integrated chafe guard for additional neckline comfort
Comfort should always take priority over appearance.
